Malawi has silently scaled down the subsidy programme by approximately 50% as the economic reality settles in and donor funds start to dry up. The Government had earlier advertised for tenders to supply 170, 000 tonnes of fertiliser under the Subsidy Programme 2010/2011 that has been running since 2005.
